[...oh. This user. Rinzler hesitates a little, but bizarrely enough, there's not much he can do now besides communicate. Given its function as a tracker, he's not surprised his captors left his MID on him, but he is surprised no one's bothered to lock its functions down. Isolation is basic protocol.

[Since arriving on the Moira, Alan has avoided using the text function on his MID. The keys are vexingly small for one, and he’s limited to typing with one hand by design, which makes the process even slower. Because of this, all of his communications on the network and to other crewmembers have been exclusively in audio or video format.

Until today, that is. Now when Rinzler opens the message from Alan in his inbox, it's in text.]

Sam and I have been working on a new application for the MID that could make text communication easier. It’s still in beta though and needs some field-testing. Would you be interested?

[There's a momentary stall as the ID on the message parses. The oddity of the text is overwritten entirely by a slightly panicked review of Rinzler's own recent behavior. He can't come up with anything worth reprimanding, though—Alan-one had even approved of his skill with the bug-swarms. Instructions, then?

He opens the message, and if the mention of the Flynn earns a brief glower, the rest is... unexpected. Testing, but not for him. (Or not overtly.) Still, if caution is a default too thoroughly ingrained to lose, it's joined by a flicker of curiosity as Rinzler keys in his assent.]

[So after a few days of being incredibly sick from a buttercup-filled pie, Asriel's at least well enough that he can use his MID again. Even though it can't be helped right now, he still feels bad that after telling Rinzler he'd come visit each day he was in the Hold, he's already broken that promise.

So at some point in the afternoon, after Asriel's more awake, Rinzler will get a text. He's unaware of the conversation that Rinzler's had with Toriel already.]

[...he'd wondered, back when the beta first showed interest, whether it had let its creator know. It wasn't Rinzler's business. He hadn't asked. But this is still far too abrupt, and for a moment, it's all he can do to stare at the display.]

[There's no response to the first text. Or the second. Or the third. When an answer does come back, there's more encryption than there is content, line closed and untraceable. If it weren't for the text it answers, there would be no way to tell what number it even came from.]
