Basic Information

At the end of the cargo bay adjacent to the massive doors, an upraised area of decking marks the transition from the main floor to a more specialized zone. The Flight Deck is home to the Moira's smaller airborne vessels, from the transporters used for planetary visits to any privately owned vehicles.

Smaller stairs and catwalks circle the edges of the deck, with a central ramp providing the main acess for loading and unloading of supplies. A long row of berths are built into either wall, with enough space in the center for multiple vehicles to be repaired or worked on side-by-side. While smaller toolkits can be found throughout for simple maintenance or repair, most replacement parts and technical equipment are secured in compartments adjacent to the deck.

A set of large holographic displays can be found just to the left of the main ramp. These offer data on the status of any recent flights as well as controlling the access locks throughout the bay.

Vehicles

Transporters

The twelve transporters that occupy the berths closest to the bay doors serve as the Moira's shuttlecraft, taking passengers and goods to and from its various stops. Despite the bulky outlines, these vessels are surprisingly maneuverable, meant to operate both in and out of atmosphere.

Originally refitted from lighter crafts, the transporters' interior space is limited. The loading ramp opens to a main compartment with space for six passengers or a full load of cargo. Further down is a secondary storage area, and a hatch that leads up to the cockpit. The transporters are designed for a single pilot, though there's space for an observer behind. If speed (and safety) isn't a concern, all compartments can be overloaded to fit more passengers on-board.

Thanks to Peridot's upgrades, each transporter has been equipped with a pair of laser cannons. While all of the craft are kept flight-capable, additional modifications can be found on some, in various states of testing or completion. For examples, see here.

Other

The Tourist

Entered into the database as a "Floatboat-class vessel", this shuttle is registered to the joint ownership of Jaguar D. Clover and Chara. It bears a strange similarity to the ships owned by the hunters of the planet Ceta. The Tourist is slightly smaller than the transporters it's docked next to, but bulky in design, capable of moderate speed over short ranges. No weaponry is visible from the exterior, though anyone who enters will find an impressive number of blades fixed to the walls.

The Reliant

Left behind by Cain, a former Moira occupant, this ship's current operator is listed as [unclaimed]. The starfighter is clearly armed, and seems to be designed for tandem operation. Many of the specifications are incomplete or unfiled, with a note appended for interested pilots to contact the Transporter Supervisor.

Piloting

All of the transporter crew are trained and available for basic shuttling duty to and from the ship. Transporter Pilots fly the vessels, contributing a smaller portion of their time to upkeep. A higher level of piloting and navigational ability is required, along with weapons training on the lasers for those not already proficient. Transporter Technicians split their work between operation and maintenance, and act the primary sources of repair or upgrades for the vehicles.

Non-transporter-crew interested in solo flights have the option to undergo a skills test with a Transporter Pilot or Supervisor. If they can demonstrate competent flying ability, their ID is entered to the database, granting access to check out transporters for private use. Transporters are fitted with location transponders and will update the displays in the event of major damage. All pilots are responsible for returning borrowed craft in reasonable condition, and may lose access for repeated infractions.

For a list of transporter crew and other authorized pilots, see here.

Hours

The Flight Deck is open at all times, though equipment and vehicles are locked when not in use. Contact information and individual hours for the transporter crew can be found on the displays. During planetary visits, the deck will be staffed with at least one crewmember at all times.
